This ladies' late 1880s tall riding hat is covered in changeable apple green/navy blue 100% silk taffeta; the hand-pleated, hand-ruched hatband is navy blue 100% silk dupioni. A cluster of hand-curled peacock swords and eyes form the fetching feather cockade.

Made with traditional millinery techniques - that is, a heavy buckram frame mulled with flannel - this hat is extraordinarily durable. The crown is heavily wired for durability; the brim is wired so that you may shape it to your face as is flattering and fit.

The crown is roughly 5" tall, and the head opening is roughly 18" in circumference. This hat is made to perch at a jaunty angle, and can be held in place with hat pins. Alternately, if you wish, I can affix a comb and an elastic to this hat - that works, too.

Embellished in accordance with fashion plates of the period, and using period materials, this hat is suitable for all of your Victorian events.
