Completely handstitched, this beetle was lovingly constructed from fabric, wire, thread and beads. A bizarre twist on 17th century stumpwork, I've taken away the background and made a completely separate piece - a kind of bizarre stuffed animal. He would be lovely sitting on a desk, shelf, framed, or worn (I've be happy to attach a pin or barrette backing for no extra fee if you'd like to wear him instead).

"Stumpwork embroidery is a raised form of embroidery created on one background and transferred to another, ground fabric, and is three-dimensional through the use of padding, beads, wire and/or needle lace stitches. " - Jeanmarie Bruccia, from Jenny June's Fancy Work.
Bert's body (without legs) measures approx. 2 1/4", and is 1 1/2" at his widest point. The legs are bendable, and he could easily be worn as a brooch or on a hat.
Bert's construction, again completely by hand, took roughly 14 hours.

All pieces are completely unique one of a kind creations.
Sorry, no returns or exchanges- but please ask if you'd like to see additional images of the work.
