Divine Inspiration:
My blessing holder ornaments were inspired by Tibetan prayer flags. I love the idea of writing something that feels sacred and spiritual, and then putting it into flight. So I designed a wing-shaped ornament that could hold a removable scroll of paper. They quickly became my most popular gift item (and were featured on the cover of The Boston Globe Calendar Magazine!)

From steampunk wings to japanese butterflies:
I construct each ornament by riveting a pair of brass angel wings onto a hinge so that they open and close like a book. When closed, the ornaments look like antique metal wings, clasped together. When opened, they transform into colorful butterflies.

The wings are lined with a high quality japanese yuzen rice paper. This paper is thicker than the usual origami paper, with richer patterns and colorings.

Each ornament has 3 dragonflies set inside the wings. The larger one holds the blessing scroll in place. This roll of blank linen paper can be easily written on by sliding it up and unrolling it.

These angel wing ornaments are a unique and wonderful way to combine your personal message or blessing with your gift. They have been used to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, housewarmings, graduations, getting published, getting ordained, getting married, and other rites of passage.

Each ornament comes wrapped inside a kraft pillow box with my sun logo stamped on it, accompanied by a card that says:

Write a little blessing
and hang it somewhere bright
so hope will always
be in flight.

The Wings, hinge, and dragonflies are brass with an antique gold/ox finish. The stone set into the dragonfly, and the two lower stones set into the wing backs, are 5mm ruby frosted glass cabochons. The two upper stones set into the backs of the wings are 5mm simulated opals. The ornament is hanging on a 30lb weight transparent fishing line (shown coiled up in the photos.) All moving parts are drilled through and riveted together.

No angels were harmed in the making of these wings.
