White cotton muslin Elizabethan shirt with full sleeves and a standing collar with a ruff. This type of shirt was worn in the mid-fifteen hundreds until the seventeen hundreds. It has a full body and wide full sleeves gathered into sleeve bands that extend into ties to close the wrist openings. The sleeves have a pleated ruff. The collar is the same width strip and the ends extend from the keyhole neckline to make ties at the neck. The collar also has a pleated ruff. The ruff is simple, not a starched ichy thing, but moves the formality level up a notch from the plain standing collar. The body is 30" wide (60" chest measurement) from the shoulders down the length of the body. This allows the shoulder seams to fall off the shoulders and allow plenty of movement when fighting off brigandes! The length from shoulder to hem is 36". Usually worn with a doublet as shown in photo #2. (Doublets in period were usually laced or buttoned but in these Current Middle Ages that can just be too hot.) Doublets are sold in separate listings in my shop. Pants for this type of shirt were called "slops"; baggy, low crotched, below the knee and tucked into boots. Slops are also sold in separate listings in my shop. The shirt can be worn alone, Renaissance lower class workers often wore the castoffs of the rich. Sailors, including pirates, also wore what they could get and wore these easy to move in shirts. A belt was worn to control the fullness of the shirt. Black and brown ring belts are also sold in separate listings in my shop. Great for those lady pirates as well. The shirt is 100 percent cotton, preshrunk, machine wash and dry, can be bleached. My family wears these hard and they take a lot of abuse. Fits men and women med to 2X-Large. I ship USPS Priority Mail. Tracking and $50 insurance are included. Express Mail is an extra charge. Please convo me for a custom listing if you would like this extra.
