Estate sale find: 1960s black crepe Grecian style sleeveless dress with matching belt, a great timeless look for someone in search of the perfect little black dress for an evening event, summer wedding, or a fancy party. The draping of the bodice is gorgeous and flattering, and the skirt falls gracefully. I just had it dry cleaned and it is in fantastic shape--no marks, rips, or stains. I just wanted to see how renewed it would look (it looked fine prior to cleaning) and it came out looking brand new. Black is like that.

The bust has a criss-cross design, and a 34 to 36" bust would fit it nicely. There are no darts, but the ruched fabric allows for a larger bust. There is a metal zipper down the back. Lined throughout. No sweat stains or signs of wear at all.

no labels for designer or garment size. My guess is this is a modern size 6 or 8. But check your measurements to see if the dimensions work for you.

This would make a flattering special occasion dress for both a smaller busted woman who wants a non-defined bust line, and for bigger busted women who want the looseness up above in the folds to accommodate--and have the high waist band to look va-va voom. It's a flattering perennially classic style that fits a range of body types, and I hope the right buyer finds it. I bought it an an estate sale of a very va-va-voom woman on the north shore of Long Island, and all of her clothes--all from the late 50s and through the early 70s--were high end and classically sexy.

measurements: laid our flat, stretched

33-36" bust
26" waist (the waist has no give--a 26" waist--it fits high--is the max)
36-38" hips (there is pleating in the hips so it expands to a 38" hip)
23" from waistband to skirt hem

About me: I am a NY based photo prop stylist for magazines like Real Simple, Instyle, Seventeen, and a few others, plus I’m a well versed shopping powerhouse for props for my photo shoots (some, you will find, oftentimes end up here on Etsy). I really enjoy finding cool stuff, and the result is what I consider a finely curated collection of vintage clothing, fashion and home accessories, and mid century odds and ends---with fair and affordable pricing. I like good stuff, but I can't just hoard it can I?

On the whole I’m an easy to approach seller, and if you love something but can’t afford it and wish I would discount it for you I probably will. That said, I majorly frown on low-ball offers for items that are clearly well-priced, so don’t go there. My pricing is, I find, super cheap in comparison to like items in other shops or on Ebay. I'm just looking to clear out the bins and bins of great stuff I have accumulated over the years. When I shop I do so carefully, and select items of a certain quality and design dignity, and take great care in how each item compliments other items in my shop. I only list things I feel are of a high quality, or if a dress, for instance, is damaged, it's there for sale because I know there is someone out there who even with blemishes or repair needs wants that dress. I've found Etsy to be the perfect place for me to sell that sort of thing. So, the message is: there’s no junk here. I dutifully detail all measurements, blemishes, and details I feel are necessary in the listing, and welcome additional info about a designer or item from shoppers. In my travels I come across amazing vintage clothing in the spirit of Betty Draper and Joan Holloway from Mad Men--great silhouettes and styles that are hand made, dressmaker patterned, or tailor made by home makers in the 50s and 60s. When I come across major designer labels like Chanel or Dior I scoop them up, and again with damaged clothing of a certain quality I know there is someone out there with a mending kit and some moxie that wants them. That said, most of what I like to sell is in clean and ready to go condition.

Shipping: I can ship worldwide (though not everywhere) so convo me for inquiries about countries not listed. As a rule I try to ship Priority Mail when possible to insure that shipments arrive safely and have some sort of trafficking number. I can ship any way you like, though. For international shipments I can send via USPS International First Class depending on the weight of the package, and that is usually a less expensive route. When I am in town I generally ship same day as purchase or within 2 or 3 days. If I am out of town for extended periods of time I put my shop on hold, so if it’s up online I’m probably in town.
