The Mughal horses on state parade occasions were embellished with richly ornamented coverings and other accessories of sets of gold and silver amulet necklaces strung with many pendants (padak mala).

This late19th century amulet of gold plated silver and was originally part of a Maharaja’s horse necklace that slide on a strap hung around the horses chest. The sterling silver pendant was originally gold plated but the gold plating has worn off over time. A slight residue of gold can still be seen on close examination. It is beautifully detailed with a lotus flower in full bloom and has two sturdy bales.

The amulet has been strung on a new black Indian traditional handmade cotton thread cord with a looped end.

It has been silver tested for high grade silver 92.5% approx. and has three antique Indian silver spacer beads.
