The yew or Iodh in the Celtic tree alphabet , is an important tree to the Winter Solstice and is sacred to the deities of death and rebirth. It has a very unique way of growing - by layering {leaving an amazing wood grain}. When a branch touches the ground, it put out roots. If the roots are strong, they can develop into a new tree, independent of the original. If the branch does not become independent, it can continue the process by surrounding the original tree with more shoots.

The yew is also one of two trees associated with Yggdrasil, the world tree in Norse mythology.

This wee chair is made from parts of a yew hedge that were damaged in a hail storm and is 16 inches high X 5 inches wide.
