"Showing Pink" is a small study in oil paint of a black cat. The title refers to the tiny bit of pink tongue this kitty is showing.

This is a memory work which pulled upon my mental images of my black cat named Neko. Neko has a "cowlick" tuft of hair in the middle of her head between her ears and so it is that this painted cat does too. Both background and cat are painted with decisive brush strokes. Even the eyes were treated this way and if you look at the detail photo of the cat's head, you can see evidence of palette knife use as well.

The photo that shows the painting in its entirety is close to actual size. The detail photos of specific areas are significantly larger than actual size. The work is framed in a vintage wood frame that is white-washed with gold flecks and tones throughout.

Image size: 5 X 7 inches
Matted and shrink-wrapped
"Showing Pink" is ready to frame for wall or on a small table-top easel or simply set on a shelf or mantel.
