"Hide and Seek", 2010.
Woodfired Porcelain.
10" long x 6" wide x 4" tall.

"Hide and Seek" is a one of a kind, handmade sculpture. It was woodfired in a traditional Japanese-style anagama kiln for five days. During the firing, the ash and the flames of the kiln gave each part its unique coloration. A different clay was used for the little guys, highlighting their contrast with their large friend, while a third type of porcelain was used to make the larger guy's pearly white teeth. The finished piece shows the delicate colors of the flames, with nothing painted or glazed.

It can benefit you to pay attention to your surroundings. But don't worry, the big guy is friendly. Well, perhaps. He's smiling at least. That's a good sign, right?
