A one of a kind suncatcher made from upcycled and recycled glass jars and wire. All connected together to make a very unique type of stained glass suncatcher!

I like the idea of taking something ordinary and turning it into art. In this case, I cut the bottoms off glass jars that held ordinary kitchen items like lemon juice, salsa, and yeast. Then, each piece was ground and shaped smooth. I wrapped each piece in copper foil and soldered them all together. This suncatcher has 3 large circles from glass jars-clear, green and brown. There is also one jar bottom that broke in half, so I placed those semi-circles in the piece as well. A couple of the jars broke higher up, so the clear and green circles are concave. On the semicircle jar bottom you can read the words "tabasco pepper 35".

Along with the recycled glass, there are 5 glass globs of blue, green, red and yellow. After soldering the piece needed some extra stability so I started adding wire swirls. The wire twists around both sides of the larger circles and adds to the overall design.

This piece can hang in many different ways. Due to the wire swirls, there are 4 different spots to hang it from. The photos show the different looks. I will include a fishing line and you can make the piece your own by hanging it however you like best!

The suncatcher is 7 inches (17.7 cm) by 6 inches (15.2 cm).

Frequently asked questions about FiveSparrows

I am happy to do a custom order if it is feasible to create. Don't hesitate to ask, and I can let you know if it is doable. I am happy to work with you on designs and colors, and will do some messaging back and forth with you to make sure you end up with a finished project that you enjoy.

I don't do anything that is copyrighted by someone else (team logos, movie characters etc) and am unable to do large leaded items.
Hang sun catchers on a stable hanger in a window-I would recommend a nail or hook over a suction cup. Outdoor garden art can be outside in the elements, as long as they are brought inside in the winter. (or a strong wind-use your judgement-I have garden stakes that stay out all summer and hold up fine)

Over time the glass and solder can get dusty or tarnished. The glass can be wiped clean with non-ammonia cleaner and a soft cloth. Car wax can also be applied over the piece and then buffed off with a soft rag. This will clean the solder lines and shine the glass as well.
My items are shipped between layers of cardboard, and tied with a raffia ribbon. I am happy to add a note if you are sending the item as a gift. Just send me a message or a note when ordering of what you would like included.
I am happy to do wholesale pricing if you are ordering over 10 of an item. My ability to do large orders is limited by time - it is just one person creating, so I can only work so fast. Please ask about wholesale items though and remember to allow extra time for the creating process.
Item size is included in each listing. If you have a question, please ask.
