Tree Swallows' natural nesting habitat was originally found around beaver ponds and wetland margins where standing dead trees were excavated by woodpeckers. Nest boxes provided by humans enabled Tree Swallows to expand to treeless regions, where in some areas they have increased their populations.

This house is made of clear cedar, has a slide out front with kerfs cut on the inside to help the young climb to the holes, and easy clean out. The holes have double thickness of wood to prevent predators from reaching inside. Mounting holes are pre-drilled in the back side and screws are included. The roof is galvanized tin. No sealers or paint have been applied. No tools required to remove front !
