Description

Avast ye scurvy dogs!

William "Captain" Kidd 1654 – 1701 was a Scottish sailor remembered for his trial and execution by public hanging for piracy after returning from a voyage to the Indian Ocean. Some modern historians deem his piratical reputation unjust, as there is evidence that Kidd acted only as a privateer.
Kidd's fame springs largely from the sensational circumstances of his questioning before the English Parliament and the ensuing trial. His actual depredations on the high seas, whether piratical or not, were both less destructive and less lucrative than those of many other contemporary pirates and privateers.

'Captain William Kidd Aboard the Adventure Galley' is from a collection of brilliantly colored lithographs of childhood from the Forties. This original 6" x 9" Howard Pyle lithograph print from 1949 is in wonderful condition with firm edges and corners. These pirate dudes are printed on heavy quality matte finished paper. Still fresh and firm with sharp corners and edges; the rich, saturated colors just as fresh and remarkable as the day it was printed 70 years ago.

Matted and framed and displayed as a grouping, these fine old children's prints are simply spectacular. (Please note that the framed examples in the last photo are to show how this might look when it's framed. This print will come to you unmatted and unframed.)

Surrender Dorothy offers an over the top assortment of unusual antique and vintage prints, posters, maps, charts, photographs, lithographs, sketches and illustrations of all kinds to adorn every room in your happy home. Terrific vintage finds for your workplace too.

Damages In The US Mail.
They happen sometimes.
Although we carefully wrap our vintage breakables in tons of bubblewrap and tons of padding and pack them in sturdy shipping boxes, damages still sometimes happen. *sigh*
Please tell us about damaged goods ASAP. Photograph the damages and send photos to us so that we can work it out with USPS.

Shipping policies

We ship by way of the United States Postal Service only.
Yes, FedEx and UPS are a little bit cheaper, but we find them to be very brutal with our delicates and breakables, so we refuse to play with them.

International Orders
The answer is YES we do ship internationally. Please just ask! There are many shipping destinations on this planet and each one is a slightly different price.

Additional policies

While it is considered customary for many antique and vintage shops to consider offers and dicker prices, our shop simply doesn't.
We've priced our merchandise as fairly as humanly possible. Please don't ask us to haggle.
Thank you.
