Vintage 84 drawer card catalog, in a beautiful aged maple wood. This piece is huge... over 5 feet tall and quite the show stopper. A fabulous addition to any home library!

-Dovetailed drawers made of solid maple, sections of which are birds eye maple.
-Three bottom rows designed with the drawer fronts tilted upwards... makes the labels easily visible while standing.
-Two pull out shelves midway down the unit... a convenient writing or work space.
-Original brass label holders and finger pull hardware.
-Brass engraved plaque is removable/replaceable for personalization. Reads "Gift From HIPP Insurance Agency, Austin, Texas"; the reverse side is blank.

65 3/8" tall.
40 1/4" wide.
20 7/8" deep.

This card catalog was originally a built-in unit. After it was decommissioned from the library, a reinforced base was added to support the weight of the catalog and allow it to be a free standing unit (see image #4, top left). This addition measures 1 1/2" tall, and has been stained to closely match the maple.

***Please note: the card catalog is not on wheels. It is resting on a moving dolly.***

The side panels extend beyond the back of the unit (1/8" on the right & 1/2" on the left). There are chips and areas of wood loss on these back edges (see image #4, top right) and to the back corners of the top (see image #4, bottom left). The back is enclosed but not "finished", and the card catalog should be placed against a wall.

In good vintage condition. All drawers slide out smoothly. The brass hardware is all original and has developed a beautiful rich patina over the years. Some minor marks and mars to the wood consistent with the age and use of the piece. The maple really is stunning... the wood almost glows!

All of the metal dividers are adjustable and slide when pressing the release lever. The divider mechanism in a few drawers is loose (#12, 15, 31, 41, & 63) and these dividers slide forward without pressing the release. There are small, minor spots of rust on the interior metal dividers and slide plates on some drawers. Drawer #11, 23, 30, 42, & 49 have water marks... the interior wood on these drawers is darker and spotted. There were larger areas of rust on the dividers, but these drawers have since been treated with a rust neutralizer.

Two drawers (#61 & #66) are false fronts. The interior drawers are missing, although the drawer fronts are present (see image #4, bottom right). They stay in place just fine, resting on the drawers below them. It is possible to permanently affix them or have new drawers constructed. I have left this decision to the new owner.

This is a very large & extremely heavy piece... I am estimating it at about 500 lbs. The only option for shipping is blanket wrapped via a freight company. The shipping cost listed is a reference point: Austin to New York City. This price will vary depending on location. Convo for an exact quote! As always, I welcome local pick-up.
