is a fabulous children's book written by Robert Munsch. Elizabeth, a beautiful princess, lives in a castle and wears fancy clothes. Just when she is about to marry Prince Ronald, a dragon smashes her castle, burns her clothes with his fiery breath, and prince-naps her dear Ronald. Undaunted and presumably unclad, she dons a large paper bag and sets off to find the dragon and her cherished prince. Once she's tracked down the rascally reptile, she flatters him into performing all sorts of dragonly stunts that eventually exhaust him, allowing her to rescue Prince Ronald. But what does Prince Not-So-Charming say when he sees her? "You smell like ashes, your hair is all tangled and you are wearing a dirty old paper bag. Come back when you are dressed like a real princess." (At least he has the courtesy not to mention that the princess's crown resembles a dying sea anemone.) In any case, let's just say that Princess Elizabeth and Prince Ronald do not, under any circumstances, live happily ever after.
I used to read this book to my two little boys, they didnt get it. But I was always ready to yell "You Go Girl!!" at the end. When I put this top on the manequin Paperbag Princess is the first thing that came to mind!

Made from tea dyed muslin this top has ripped frayed hems and raw seams. I have hand sewn gathers in the top and back with two rows of stitching using cotton crochet thread. Vintagey rayon ribbon is scrunched and hand stitched over the gathering stitches. A ripped ruffled row of muslin graces the right shoulder. On top I have placed two hand made muslin roses, one in unbleached muslin the other in hand dyed antique pink. At the waist is a MUMMY CORSET made with a long section of tea dyed muslin that is wrapped several times. I have shown a couple ways you can wrap the belting. At the sides of the top are square Mother of Pearl buttons to lead the corset belting. This is quite lightweight and very cool.

26 inches long
fits size 2 -12
up to a 39 inch bust
72 inches across bottom edge

Hand wash, shake and line dry. Can go in the dryer on low for fluffing. The muslin has been washed and machine dryed before creating this top.

I can custom make this for you in any length (may cost a bit more for floor length dress).
