This little (56 pages) softcover book is the story of the U.S.S. Cairo, which was sunk in the Yazoo River by a Confederate torpedo in December 1862. A century later it was raised and salvaged along with thousands of priceless artificacts.

It comprises A Narrative of Her Wartime Adventures by Virgil Carrington Jones, and An Account of Her Raising in 1964 by Harold L. Peterson.

First published by the U.S. Department of the Interior - National Park Service in 1971, this is the 1985 reprint and is heavily illustrated.

This is in very good condition and would be a perfect addition for the naval history and/or civil war buff!

As always, please contact me with any queries! I am happy to ship internationally.
