Beautifully executed vintage "paint by number" framed pictures by WaveSong on Etsy. For that shabby chic cottage decor look 2 vintage hand-painted Southern Ladies portraits.

Paint by number art was all the rage in the 1960s. Talk about colouring inside the lines! And of course the instructions never encouraged you to sign your painting. So these paintings remain anonymous. One can only make up a story of the detailed person who took hours to paint these, opening the tiny little paint pots with their numbers on the lids. Let's hope that after doing this, the person was liberated to try painting on their own with the leftover paint at least. And maybe buy some canvas and paints and break out of the lines.

10 x 14". Framed 12 1/2 x 17". Natural wood frame with white washed overglaze. No glass. Paintings seem to have been varnished. The varnish is stained now. Water stained on back, see photo. They are both rippled a bit but a good backing board more nails in the rear would help that out.
