This wooden bowl is hand carved from walnut in a trencher style. Finished in organic tung oil and local natural beeswax. The bowl is a beautiful study in the contrast between walnut heart wood and sap wood. The bowl is mostly the traditional walnut color with the exception of on side which is completely sap wood.

This bowl can be a center piece on your coffee table or a handy serving dish at parties. It is sanded perfectly smooth and the wax finish adds to the luster of the piece. The variations in color of the bowl are natural to the wood and make already rare dough bowl into a unique piece of art and utility.

My name is Joseph Marshall. Originally from Ireland, I moved to the United States 10 years ago and settled down in Columbia MO. My bowls have their own unique character drawn from their shape and the beauty of the wood. These shapes are generally inspired by the traditional dough bowls and trencher bowls common in kitchens of the 19 century.

All bowls are finished in 4-6 coats of organic natural tung oil and polished with a homemade tung oil/local bees wax polish. These bowls are safe for food use. In order to maintain the original finish and due to the knots and checks, recommended for dry foods only such as whole fruit, breads and nuts.
