This is lovely fleece from Sparty, a fiber boy soon to turn two years old. He's a happy, curious little boy who is one of the first in the herd to greet visitors in the barn.

I used Jacquard's Purple, Fire Red, and Sky Blue to dye this fleece. The resulting colors range from a soft pink, through violets, to purple. This is the last 5.6 ounces of this dye lot.

This fiber is ready to be carded, or some folks like to just draft it out and spin it for a rustic, homespun look. It's 4 inces long as you can see from the picture just above Sparty. My favorite length of Huacaya Alpaca for spinning is 4 inches.

Alpaca also felts to a soft fabric if you're a felter. I know this too well because once I accidently felted several ounces while dyeing. I knew better but moved it from hot water to cold, and immediately wanted to kick myself.

Normally, I sell adult fleece for $2.50/ounce but because this has been picked, washed, and dyed, I'm selling it for $3.50/ounce. ( I rounded this down from $19.60 to $16.00.)
