For sale is a striking little manicure or sewing scissors marked GLICO GERMANY on the metal near the screw. Many would call this bakelite but bakelite is actually opaque and these have this beautiful translucent orange celluloid sandwiched between ivoroid layers. The front of the handle has a dark impressed deco design on the ivoroid surface around the finger holes. Ivoroid and catalin were early plastics from the same time period as bakelite. The scissors is 5-7/8" long and has a slightly curved blade. The surface of the metal has some very slight surface wear from age but no rust or pitting and the blades are still very sharp. Probably from the 1930s or 1940s. Great working condition.
