Cacophony is the debut poetry collection from Josh Medsker. It is a poetic exploration of the life and works of early 20th century horror pioneer H.P. Lovecraft, as filtered through UK punk legends Rudimentary Peni (I took direct inspiration from their 1988 album Cacophony, as well as titles.) Published in Sept. 2019 by Phoenix small press Alien Buddha Press, it has been called "chilling", "grimly ironic" and "poignant" by Lovecraft scholar S.T. Joshi. He also said:

"[It] is a splendid tribute to H. P. Lovecraft--the writer, the human being, and the icon. Josh Medsker recognizes that in poetry every word counts, and his scintillating, impressionistic poems throw off an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of images..." -S. T. Joshi, Author of I Am Providence: The Life and Times of H. P. Lovecraft

I have drunk from the wells of two dark masters, and added my own voice. Cacophony also features cover art, and poem-by-poem art, by Seattle-based fine artist Aaron Morgan. I am exceptionally proud of our book. I hope you enjoy it as well. - JM
