What do you do if you've got a kiddo with a hot, sweaty, feverish forehead? Pull a bag of frozen peas out of the freezer? What about crawling into bed with chilly feet on a cold night? Do you fill up a hot water bottle? How about if you're a little (or a LOT!) crampy? Do you plug in the heating pad?

In our family, every time there's a feverish forehead, or chilly feet, or a crampy Momma, we grab one of our rice pillows, made of soft flannel to be gentle on sensitive skin, sewn from cheerful fabric that's a pleasure to look at, weighted and firm enough to give as much comfort as a heavy quilt might.

The utility of a rice pillow, however, lies in the fact that you can use it for both hot therapy and cold therapy. To ease menstrual cramps or labor pains or to warm up chilly hands and feet, simply microwave your rice pillow for one minute. Check its temperature, and if you'd like it to be a little warmer, microwave it for another 30 seconds or so, and you're all set! The rice pillow will hold its heat for up to an hour before you'll want to microwave it again, and it weighs approximately 1 lb 4 oz., so it provides a comforting pressure as well as heat.

To use the rice pillow as a cold pack for sore muscles or feverish foreheads, place it in an airtight container (like a Ziplock bag) so that cold won't condense on it, and then freeze it for about one hour. Again, the rice will hold its temperature for quite a long time, and the weight of it helps it stay where you put it.

Each rice pillow is approximately 4" across by over 8" long, and at over 2" wide, it's nice and fat and plump and firm. The dried rice smells toasty warm when it's heated, but otherwise these rice pillows are unscented, because I find that essential oil in a warmer is a better choice for our family's aromatherapy needs.

We use these rice pillows in our own family all the time, and my girls are the ones who chose these fabrics--they're exact matches for rice pillows that are now in our linen cupboard, waiting for the next minor emergency!

This rice pillow ships in a small flat rate box. Remember that I always adjust shipping overages of more than $1, so if you want to add in a few of my smaller items, such as pinbacks, I can slip those into the same flat rate box and issue you a refund for their shipping charges.

Need expedited shipping? Convo me with your shipping info to receive a custom listing with an expedited shipping rate.

Need multiples of this rice pillow? I can make multiples with one week's lead time (providing that I still have the fabric!) at a rate of 2-5 rice pillows at $8 per pillow and 6+ rice pillows at $6 per pillow. Convo me to set up your custom order.
