Pentagon Wall Art

I’m an engineer (retired) and a woodworker, so there is something about geometric designs in wood that intrigue me. Especially when you are told that there are only a small number of five-sided figures (pentagons) that exist that can be arranged in a tiled form to completely cover an area. The arrangement I’ve picked includes what looks like an arrangement of bow ties. But each bow tie is in fact made up of four similarly colored pieces of wood (walnut, cherry, oak & maple). These pieces must be precisely cut to fit together into a repeating pattern. I have made these pieces of wall art in two sizes, each with two patterns. The small size measures 13-5/8” x 18-5/8” (including frame) and the medium size is 17-5/8” x 24-5/8” (including frame). In addition, I’ve arranged the pentagon tiles either with the walnut (darkest) bow tie center place, or with the maple (lightest) bow tie center place. Just to add to the variety, the art can be hung either in portrait or landscape mode. (I have a favorite, maybe you do too!) Note that the pictures of the two different sizes look virtually the same at first glance. That’s because the sizes of pentagon pieces are larger in the medium art than in the small.
