This book was created to document the San Francisco Earthquake and fire.

This Memorial Edition has an introduction by Bishop Fallows.

In true, sensationalized Victorian fashion
the book has a title a mile long
with dramatic captions and photographs
as told by the survivors and rescuers.

The first 265 pages depict the details of the San Francisco earthquake
and then they throw in an explanation of volcanoes and earthquakes
as well as other natural disasters around the globe
from Pompeii to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, I suppose for comparison sake.

The cover is heavily worn and faded
and the binding is loose.
However, this is a relatively rare book and a
great snapshot of life and death and news
in that time.
