"Le Guide ou Nouvelle Description d'Amsterdam"
An interesting description of the city of Amsterdam together with a work containing the tariff rates for import and export of all kinds of goods and merchandise imposed by the Seven Dutch United Provences in alphabetical order.
Also included are the tariff rates imposed in the Sont (entrance of the Baltic sea) and the last ordinances on the subject, dated 1652 and 1655.The first edition of the Guide was published in Amsterdam by Daniel de la Feuille in 1701 and was mostly bound together with an edition of the Tarif of 1707, a second edition was printed in 1709.
This edition is not illustrated.

It measures 6.50" x 4.25" and has 123 numbered pages (plus several not numbered)

Vellum wraps. (Vellum is a fine parchment made from the skin of a lamb, pig or calf. Primarily it was used in the 15th and 16th century to bind books. The skins were stretched over boarding in a way very similar to leather. The luminosity, texture and beauty of Antique Vellum has made it a favorite of designers.)

The early 18th-century Guide to Amsterdam, Paul de la Feuille, 1720. 2 vols in one. Written in the French language.

This edition was printed in Amsterdam in 1720 and was bought by me in Amsterdam about 270 years later. It's in the exact same condition as when I purchased it 20 years ago.

Interesting piece of history.

Some smudges and light scuffs to the vellum wraps. Still very complete and tight. Hinges and binding are solid. A few previous owners marks and stamps inside and a few slight water stains at the top of the first few pages. No odors. No stuck pages. Not ex-library. Mostly clean and very white pages. Almost no browning or foxing. Overall a very solid copy in fantastic condition for being close to 300 years old. Please convo for any questions needing answered.
