5/8" x 5/8" round as found in nature. total of 7 Rudrakshas each with 5 mukhi (facets) and the outer skin still intact on bits of them. these easily soak off (use an old toothbrush) or peel off with the fingernail dry but i am leaving them on to show the authenticity. there are many fakes out there.

i purchased these from Adiwasi tribal people in India on Narmada Jayanti (the river's birthday).

there are many pieces containing Rudraksha in this shop- vintage and pieces i have made upscaling these Rudrakshas in other listings. i have had this one for about 4- 5 years but its age could be substantially older.

this one is offered up for the special crafter who will honor its purpose and make a divine object worthy of its sacred service.

the sales from this shop are going to support my ongoing work in India - i am building a free interfaith library and temple as well as carrying on with my voluntary teaching while the funds are coming and plans are setting up.

the second photo is of the Baba at Pasupati Nath Goshala in Kathmandu Nepal wearing loads of Rudraksha malas which also hang over his Havan (fire) and all over his Mandir (temple). they are very commonly worn as worship all over India by holy people. Pasupati Nath is the oldest Hindu Temple in Nepal near the border of India. we often make pilgrimage there for Shivaratri as in this photo.

The word ‘rudraksha’ is two Sanskrit words ‘Rudra’, a synonym for Lord Shiva, and ‘aksha’, meaning "eyes". The botanical name of the plant is 'ELAEOCARPUS GRANITRUS'. These trees grow only in the peaks of Himalayas of India and Nepal. The Rudraksha beads contain 50.031% Carbon, 30.53% Oxygen, 17.897% Hydrogen, 0.95% Nitrogen and trace elements.

It is said that the seed pods of Rudraksha contains the secrets of the entire evolution of the cosmos within it.

Rudraksha has been found to boost the confidence, courage and inner strength of the wearer significantly. When a person has traumatic shock or just plain bad habits, the body picks up samskaras. When regularly wearing Rudraksha, it becomes part of body and the seed begins the healing. Rudraksha brings grace in life. Generally after 40 days of wearing, one can feel the the changes in him or herself and attitude towards life but some changes are observed immediately.

The Rudraksha bead is a seed pod and being organic, varies in size. The beading hole running through it occurs naturally. Each seed pod forms up to 21 vertical lines running down its surface, like the longitude lines on a globe or sections of an orange. Each section contains a tiny seed inside of this Rudraksha pod. It is the whole pod with its sections that is the natural, Sacred Rudraksha bead. These sections are known as mukhi, or faces (facets), and are integral natural formations of the pod. Seeds with no line or one vertical line are known as ekh-mukhi (one facet); those with two lines are doh-mukhi (two facets), and so on. The Rudrakshas with rare larger number of mukhi are on the market in the several hundreds of dollars with or without any setting for wearing it – they are available as remedy for astrological influences as per recommended by a professional Vedic Jyotish Astrologer.

Panch Mukhi (5 faces) Rudraksha is said to be beneficial to anyone. Representing the planet Jupiter – Guru planet, this type of Rudraksha is the most popularly found and said to bring luck and happiness besides the healing and stabilizing properties below. If you feel affinity to this piece, with positive attitude, you will be especially fortunate by quick noticeable results in its wearing.

Rudraksha interacts with sentient beings by keeping it close to the skin - the natural process of positive impaction on central nervous system when connecting with nature’s healing properties bringing balance in physiology. Constant contact with Rudraksha brings one to Alpha state of mind - a state where the heart beat, breathing, blood circulation, function of endocrine glands, activity of neurons & neurotransmitters are normalized. The Rudraksha can help balance the vital chakras of the human body. Ancient Indian medical texts state that the Rudraksha prevents aging and can prolong life. Rudraksha is said to Belong to Lord Shiva. Those who wear Rudraksha are free from all fears as your Rudraksha resonates tranquility, peace and bliss.

Researches have shown that Rudraksha beads have electromagnetic and accupressural property known as Piezoelectricity. A piezoelectric material when subjected to electric potential undergoes reformation in molecular level and develops a charge equal in potential but opposite in polarity. There is a constant bio-electrical field developed throughout the body. Rudraksha are worn around the thymus area and instantly catches this electric potential, developing an electromagnetic potential of same intensity but opposite in polarity (positive or negative). This is also the reason why Rudraksha is called as Elaeocarpus - meaning plants with Electrical Properties.

On seeing such miraculous results by just wearing Rudraksha beads, Hindus in the Himalayas in India and Nepal began worship of Rudraksha seed pods as sacred and fashioned them into beads to be used for Japa Mala which after prayers are chanted are worn. Yogis since ancient times are capable of spectacular ability of mind control and control of voluntary & involuntary mechanisms of the body. Many attribute this power to Rudraksha beads to a major extent.

Can Rudraksha be worn by all people or only followers of the Sanatana Dharama? Rudraksha can be worn by all people of any religion, sex, caste as Sun, Moon, Rivers, Plants have no religion. Rudraksha is Nature itself at work. Vedas call Nature and even Science same as G-d.

Rudraksha is a stable seed pod and has a life of thousands of years if well taken care of.
