Feynman diagrams are pictorial representations of the interactions between elementary particles, widely used in physics. In a nutshell, the sub-atomic particles are symbolized by lines of various kinds and funny things happen between them.
Coupled with a touch of mexican art, this specific Feynman diagram celebrates one of the possible ways of appearance and disappearance of the Higgs boson:
On the left, gluon fusion gives rise to a Higgs (dashed line) which lives very briefly and leaves two Z bosons behind; on the right, each of them turns into two muons.
If the Higgs bosons exist, they are hoped to be produced at the large hadron collider and detected through chains of fortunate events like this one...
This is an original aceo, 3''x2'', created with markers and glitter on canson paper.
