This painting is of a typical Caribbean scene -- supposed to invoke the "feel" of being in the warm tropics.

It is done in what I call my "crayon style", with nicks and bumps and kind of a crayon-y paint application -- in a simplistic way. It is actually way of painting!

We once visited the beautiful Dominican Republic and went to the very end of the road on the Samana Peninsula and stayed at remote Las Galeras Beach. Local fisherman brought fresh seafood over to rickety wooden tables and the diners made their selections for a beach-side dinner. Las Galeras is actually on the Atlantic side of the DR, but I wanted to do a painting that had a broader Caribbean flair -- hence the name "Mar Caribe" (Caribbean Sea).
