These intricately carved wooden cups were made by hand from a single piece of hardwood or burlwood. They were a traditional Yugoslavian handicraft and are called either wedding cups or shepherds cups. This one has has a geometric design carved all around the cup body and a stippled texture on the handle. In the 1950's and 1960's Yugoslavians started to carve and sell these cups for tourists. Those cups were either unstamped or stamped "Made in Yugoslavia." This cup has the older spelling, Jugoslavia, in its backstamp so I believe that it dates to the 1940's or earlier. The cup is 4 inches tall, 5.5 inches long and 2.25 inches wide. It is in good vintage condition with no cracks or chips. There is some very minor surface scratches on the sides and bottom. I have one other shepherds cup for sale in my shop.
