A beautiful dress, unfortunately not in the best condition. Machine-embroidered panels of fabric artfully joined and layered, tiny hooks closure up the back, short sleeve and tissue-thin.

I think the bow/flower on the front (first picture) was added later. It seems to match the ribbon on a 1920 wedding dress that I purchased from the same estate. The seller was related to the bride and dated this dress to a wedding in 1914.

Constructed with flat-felled seams throughout the interior.

Would have been worn with an Edwardian S-shaped corset and underdress.

It has been gently hand-washed and the stains are lighter than they were, but still noticeable. There is a 1" hole against the waist on one side. Otherwise it seems in fairly sturdy condition for a piece that was so delicate when it was new.

Measurements are approximate.
Bust; 32"
Waist (at smallest point) 26"
Hips: 40"
Back of neck to waist: 13"
Waist to bottom hem: 33"

REDUCED Antique short sleeve wedding dress, 1914, white cotton and lace
