Amber glass from discarded glass bottles--Tripel Karmeliet, Kwak and Two Hearted--pair with an unusual iridescent glass from Bullseye to conjure a seriously working honeybee! The little pieces of glass are copper foiled and soldered with a silver alloy and dangled from a sterling silver chain a little over 18". The bee takes up approximately a square inch in the scheme of things!

This is the culmination of a collaboration with Noelle of xenotees.etsy.com with help on the life and times of honeybees illumination and practical know-how by Roxanne of illuminatedperfume.etsy.com
Noelle designed a pair of BEErings honeycomb for ears...
...and a honeycomb necklace...
...and had the idea for a little stained glass honeybee necklace to dangle in front of the honeycomb. I got busy (honeybee work ethic, eh?) designing the bee, and in the meantime learned how bees carry their wings for different situations.

Roxanne said..
"Whether the bees have their wings open or closed on the comb will depend on what they are doing. Usually they are closed.
If they are working on hive repairs, midwifery, etc, their wings will be closed. If they are foragers who have just come back to the hive and they are communicating a message the wings might be open. So, you can ask yourself, what are the bees doing and thus decide which way to go."

Noelle wanted her honeybee to be working with wings closed--I can easily make your honeybee with wings open or closed, just let me know what you want your bee to be doing!

Last image is a suggested use. One crazy girl in full BEE regalia, drinking wine with her favorite twin sister in regal robot poses--Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

This listing is for the bee necklace only...you can buy the honeycomb accessories in separate listings. Made to order...allow a few days before shipping. Cheers!
