Fabulous vintage 1940's late Art Deco large figural mandolin brooch constructed from clear lucite, black bakelite with hand painted accents and realistic gold brass strings.

Measures a tad over 4" long and 1-1/2" wide at the base this superb jelly belly brooch is in excellent vintage condition.

The companion "Banjo" and "Balalaika" brooches from the same range can be found on page 230 in the Jelly Belly chapter in "American Costume Jewelry N-Z - Art & Industry 1935-1950" by Roberto & Carla Brunialti. A similar guitar brooch can be found on page 126 in the vintage Plastics section of "Warman's Jewelry 4th Edition" by Kathy Flood
