What is this exactly?
You are looking at our customized 3D CNC Machined cast iron skillet. This is not a plate attached or foundry molded, we are a CNC machining company. We precision machine your order, removing a minimal amount of material to leave your design standing out three dimensionally.

What do you use?
We use the Lodge Brand (made in the USA) cast iron for machining your product with the exception of the 3.5" skillet and waffle iron. These are import options.

How do I know what size I want?
* Measurements are across the rim of skillet
* The larger the skillet the more detailed or intricate the design can be
*BIGGER IS BETTER ...for the small price difference in sizes I would go bigger. This is not because this makes us a few dollars, but because quality counts. (porosity)

What is porosity?
This is any void or hole in casting. This is something, unseen with the eye, that may present in the machining process. For the full definition see our store Q&A. To simplify, it is a cosmetic blemish. Have you made a cake? Did you see air bubbles in the batter? It's very similar. In our experience the 6.5" skillet and lids, in general, tend to present the most often, but not always. This may be a tiny black mark or dot. If you are familiar with cast iron texture and characteristics, you know that this does not affect cooking quality. Should this occur, we quality check our products and offer solutions to ensure our customers are happy. We release work we are proud to claim, and our customers are proud to give.

Know what you would like, but need help?
You can reference one of our previous design, tell us what kind of image you are looking for, wilderness scene, couple holding hand etc. We can help search images that will work best. Black on white images machine the sharpest and most defined. (ex. silhouette type images)
If you desire a special font, you may not have seen on one of our designs, we may ask for your help. Together, we will build the design you envision. Best way... draw a circle and roughly sketch what you would like. The best ex. we've seen is a paper plate.

Any extra fees??
When you send your order to us double check following, Names are in the order I want them and spelled correctly? Between name options and, &, +. Dates are written exactly as I want to see them. slashes, dots, abbreviated etc. Capitals and lowercase? It's all-important, this is the image I want to use. The more detailed description the better. As minor as this seems it all affects the layout, programming and tool pathing time. Something as simple as flip flopping names takes time to reprogram and toolpath. This delays your order as well as other's. Reprogramming and changing you design will result in a $20 fee. Taking your time relaying your design helps us keep our prices down and gets your product to you exactly how you envisioned and faster, while eliminating reprogramming fees.

Size matters...
The bottom of the cast iron must be large enough to accommodate the detail of your design. Remember our tooling must go around every edge of the image and text to leave the three-dimensional design.

Can I cook with my customized skillet?
(Seasoned cook ready option) YES...Once complete we re-season your cast iron and it’s ready to cook with. Remember our custom cook ready cast iron will darken with additional seasoning and/or use.
(Solid Black decorative option) NO... Why not? For the customers that want the traditional look, we finish with a high-quality Satin finish paint.

How fast can I get mine? FAST!!
Expedited Processing is available in the shipping section. This offers 7-day processing of your order from proof approval. There is a $25 fee for this. this has your order programmed, proofed and out the door in 5-7 days of proof approval. This option will not speed up the shipping company, we ship using priority mail and UPS. If you would like shipping Ex. overnight or air, prices can be quoted. We pay our staff to work in off hours to make this possible. The reduced shipping time will not reflect at checkout but will be 5-7 days from proof approval. This significantly reduces wait time.
