MEANING:

Thought as protection from the envious or evil eye. The hamsa symbol is believed to originate from an ancient Middle Eastern religion, bringing its wearer or owner happiness, luck, health, and good fortune.

The hamsa hand (Arabic) or hamesh hand (Hebrew) means “five” and refer to the digits on the hand.

An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). An alternative Jewish name for it is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of the Prophets Moses and Aaron.
