Whimsical, colorful drawing of a friendly looking Lion. Printed in six colors.

These prints are ideal for children’s rooms, playrooms, family rooms, kitchens, office or anyplace where a particular drawing or design will make you feel a little bit happier.

These drawings and designs are not mass reproduced on a press.
Each print is a work of art that is 12” x 18”, hand printed on heavy weight paper with vibrant paint-like custom mixed inks. Each print is hand signed by me. It is not framed but is sent with a 17” x 23” mat and backing board and will ship flat in a mailing envelope. There are limited quantities of each design.

Each design and drawing was originally copyright protected in 1971 and is the sole property of gz design.

Screen printing, or silkscreen printing (also known in fine art as serigraphy) first appeared during the Shang Dynasty (960–1279 AD). Traditionally the process was called screen printing or silkscreen printing because silk was used in the process. Currently, synthetic fabrics (mesh) are commonly used in the screen printing process. The most popular mesh in general use is made of polyester. A screen is made of a piece of finely woven mesh stretched onto a wood frame. Areas of the screen that are to be blank are blocked off with a stencil to prevent the ink from printing on that area when the ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface.

None of my drawings and designs is created electronically or digitally. All of these illustrations and graphic designs were drawn originally by hand by the artist (me) and converted into the appropriate process for printing. Each color section of each design was drawn separately in order to create the stencil for that color’s area of the drawing because every color for each design requires a separate screen. As an example, for a nine color design, there are 9 wood frames tightly stretched with the porous fabric (mesh) on which the stencil is applied for that color’s part of the design.

These designs are not mechanically printed, such as on a press, laser or ink jet printer.
Each color ink is hand mixed and hand printed separately for each poster. Once the ink is dry, the poster is printed again for the next color using the screen for that color’s portion of the design, making sure all the colors line up. This process is repeated again and again for each color on each poster.
