The pope will be happy...he loves his Swiss guards...Bopp is one of his favorites!
Lowbrow Bopp the Swiss Guard.

This is a completely handmade cloth figure. Starting with my original pattern to cutting the shapes from ten ounce artist's canvas and finally, designing, freehand drawing and painting the form. I machine stitch the pieces twice and stuff very tightly with polyester hypoallergenic fiber fill. I gesso three coats, sanding between applications which gives the piece the look and feel of leather. Acrylic paint and Inktense pencils are used for painting the design. This particular doll, BOPP, has handmade wool felted dreads and button attached arms and boots. After the paint has cured, I spray two coats of fine art permanent fix on the entire doll which protects from UV damage. Each figure takes approximately thirty hours to complete and I do research on each character. These figures are three dimensional fine art wall hangings (hanging loop) or can be displayed on a shelf.

This price is for ONE figure only.

Lowbrow art describes an underground visual art movement that arose in the Los Angeles, California, area in the late 1970s. Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. It is also often known by the name pop surrealism. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment.

Swiss Guard history.
Various units of Swiss Guards existed for hundreds of years. The earliest such unit was the Swiss Hundred Guard (Cent-Garde) at the French court (1497 – 1830). This small force was complemented in 1567 by a Swiss Guards regiment. The Papal Swiss Guard now in the Vatican City State was founded in 1506 and is the only Swiss Guard that still exists. In the 18th century several other Swiss Guards existed for periods in various European courts.

This figure is not a toy.
