This are referred to as Afghan jade but technically are known as being in the serpentine family. They've a matte finish and are polished by rubbing with leather and fine sand. The beads are lightly oiled here to emphasize the translucence, you can wash them in mild detergent, or simply leave them a lone for a few months eventually the beads revert to a lightly frosted surface. The frosted appearance mimics that of ancient beads and is nice for designs incorporating antique and organic elements.

The strand is finished at the nape with white cotton string - wrapped cord, no clasp. Break it down and use the beads in your own work, or wear it as a necklace, slipped on over the head.
