To reduce a city to almost nothing,
To render the landscape in two dimensions,
To see the world in a sheet of paper
Is to see the humanity in everything...

Working entirely by hand, I seek to transform common materials such as paper and cardboard into delicate objects of intricate detail and unexpected beauty.

This piece is the skyline of Paris, hand-cut from beautiful thick white card. It features the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur and La Defence. The skyline is sliced into the card, which is then folded up from the flat plane to create a striking 2D\/3D sculpture.

Every piece is unique, and takes hours to complete. I work using only a surgical scalpel, and never mark the work with a pen or pencil (except to sign and number them) so the silhouette remains a pure form. The margin for error is extremely high; with the more difficult pieces it will often take two or three attempts before I create one I am happy with (like this one!)

Each city is produced in a limited edition of 10, forming part of my "A3 cities" collection. Dimensions approx 297mm x 420mm (11.7" x 16.4"). The item will be posted flat between stiff foamcore, and so will arrive in perfect condition.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoy my work.
