Description

St Brigid's Cross Embroidered Chapel Veil. Measures 43" wide by 22" deep.
A unique chapel veil designed with a soft, light over-embroidered lace that can be worn loose as a traditional veil or tie in back like a kerchief. Trimmed with narrow daisy venise lace. A wonderful choice for any Irish woman or girl -- or any Catholic woman at all.

PLEASE NOTE: This veil is made to order and may take several days beyond the expected ship date. Usually in stock, but may take an extra day to make a new one. Your veil will arrive in an autumn themed carrying pouch (most have a separate pocket for your rosary) with matching hair pins, prayer card, and floral sachet to keep your veil fresh. Fit with a hidden loop so you can secure the veil safely to your hair using a simple bobby pin without damaging the lace. Or you may select a comb with bridal loops for easy removal.

The Veiled Woman line of exquisite mantillas and chapel veils is handmade one by one in the USA.

St Brigid is a well loved saint who is well known for her purity and charity, but also for St Brigid's Cross. An old pagan chieftain lay delirious on his deathbed in Kildare. In some versions of the story this chieftan is her father. His servants summoned Brigid to his bedside, in the hope this saintly woman might be able to calm his restless spirit.

As she sat by his bedside, trying to calm and console him, she picked up some of the rushes which were strewn across the floor of the room. As her fingers played with the dry strands, she started weaving them together, eventually forming a cross.

As she worked she explained the meaning of the cross to the sick man. Her calming words brought peace to his soul. The chieftan’s fever broke, and he grew quiet. Captivated by her lesson of love and enlightenment, the old chieftan was baptized as a christian, just before his death.

Once word of his conversion reached beyond his lands, news spread fast. Ever since, Irish people have made rush crosses to commemorate the occasion.

Beautiful, well made, and received on time. My girls are excited to wear their first veils whenever we’re allowed to attend public Mass again.

Thank you, and we pray for your health and safety during this difficult time.

Lord have mercy!

Bought as a gift. Recipient said it’s pretty, soft, and the pouch is nice. The only slight negative she mentioned is that it is scented. She said it smells like incense and it bothers her some but she’s hopeful it will wash out. Shipping was super fast. Would gladly purchase for this seller again.
