Her name is IZUMI ("ee-zoo-mee") and it means "spring, fountain." She is first of a collection I started, to have charms hanging below. IZUMI wears a bright kimono of several colors, and in her white hair are 2 heart-shaped felt adorements. The charms she carries are a blue gem, light lavendar flower and an asian motif. On her head is a colorful bead, with a waxed cotton cord.

keep her with you in different ways -

• as a purse charm
• beltloop charm
• zipper charm
• on the rearview mirror
• ornament to hang just about anywhere

Face and hair carefully handpainted and with several varnishes to the entire charm, but try to keep her out of water ;-)

doll size: approx. 2" tall
total length with cord: approx. 10" long

as cute as she is, she is not a toy, so keep her away little children and babies.

************A SHORT HISTORY OF KOKESHI DOLLS*************
Dating back to the latter part of the Edo Era (1603-1867), true Japanese kokeshi dolls are done by wood-turning artisans with years of experience, using seasoned wood. The dolls had a spiritual significance representing a wish for a healthy child. Kokeshi dolls are generally bought as mementos, but they are also seen as lucky charms!
