I created this piece while exploring the idea of a smile hiding a lot of things—a theme you'll find in many of my "wearable moods." This mirror, however, adds a powerful new layer: the interactivity of you observing yourself.

Seeing yourself is a mystical experience. This piece is an invitation to be more conscious of your physical presence and to reflect on what's beneath the surface.

The Concept: The Gap in the Reflection

The upside-down smiley cut-out is the core of the artwork. As you observe your reflection, you will find a gap in it—a part of you that isn't complete, depending on how you see it. This is meant to symbolize that internal feeling of hiding or holding onto feelings that hurt.

The smiley makes those unspoken feelings present in the room. It's a physical representation of things left unsaid, things that don't feel right, and things you don't yet know how to express.

The Layers: Choose Your Filter

There are multiple layers to this piece: the material itself, the interaction with your reflection, the symbolism of the cut-out, and finally, the color, which acts as a physical filter for your world.
