Remember when all the hippies wore caftans? Well here is a pattern from the 1960s for an easy to sew caftan which you can wear for lounging or as a robe. You will feel very exotic wrapped in its folds!

The robe can be sewn from any kind of fabric...silk, brocade, terrycloth, velour, cotton, etc....but it does take a lot of fabric. The amount required depends on your height. Tall requires 3.5 yds of 54 inch fabric; average requires 3.1 yds of 54 inch fabric; short requires 2.75 yds. The there is the braid trim to enhance you choice of fabric. There is trim around the neck, down the front (where there is a zipper) and around the bottom, but you can decide how much to use.

Condition: The pattern has been cut, a little shorter than originally, but length can easily be added at the bottom, where it was removed. The pattern is complete with all instructions. The envelope is in good condition with a small tear at flap corner.

Frequently asked questions about VogueVixens

Sizes have changed over the decades, and may vary between pattern brands. Measure your bust/chest, waist, and hips with a measuring tape, compare these measurements to the charts given on our listings.
As well there is usually a photo of the back of the pattern envelope, that often includes a sizing chart.
Looking at VINTAGE patterns, mid 1960's or earlier?
We suggest when buying a vintage pattern, to choose the correct bust size, and make any necessary alterations to the pattern in the waist and hips. An experienced sewer may be capable of making adjustments in the bust as well.
Some patterns give a level of difficulty/sewing ability recommended to use the pattern...from Very Easy, Easy, Average to Advanced.

The buyer should use their own judgement before purchase to decide if their skills match the rating. Be sure to look at the photo of the backs of the envelopes for more information on the construction of the garment.
All our patterns instructions are in English, sometimes there are also instructions in an additional language.

Even though some envelopes have French or Spanish or German, that is NOT always an indicator that the instructions inside are multi-lingual.

In the text part of the listing, under Condition, is where we will note if the instructions are available or included in an additional language besides the standard English.
Please contact us before purchase if you are unsure if the pattern instructions are in your preferred language, and we will check for you.
NO. Since we are in Canada, we are not registered for VAT, and so this tax is NOT included in our prices. If any of our listings or shipping rates state "VAT included (where applicable)", this is because Etsy's programmers have recently added this to the current webshop platform. Unfortunately this is misleading and incorrect, but we are unable to remove it from our listings.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions on this issue. Vogue Vixens has been open since 2010, with over 500 orders going to buyers in the European Union, and we have received very positive reviews from our European customers.
