This is one of the nicest examples of hand painted china I have seen. I love the theme! The set is unmarked and unsigned but it was done by an artist. Don't the blueberries make you want to pop one in your mouth? These are in excellent vintage condition: No chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. It was probably displayed in a cabinet and never used. It has a lovely matte finish. Here's some coffee cake to go with your tea.

Blueberry Coffee Cake

2/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, separated
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 package (10 oz) sweetened, frozen blueberries, thawed and drained (or the equivalent fresh!)
4 tablespoon brown sugar

Cream together butter and sugar, blend in egg yolks until creamy. Sift flour again with the baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk mixing until smooth after each addition. Gently stir in blueberries. Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks, fold them into mixture. Pour batter into a greased 9 inch square pan, sprinkle brown sugar over top and bake at 375 degrees F (350 degree for a glass pan) for 35 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm. Serves 9.
