Medieval / Renaissance Ladies Dutch Cap.

Something a little different from Joyce. A Satin Dutch cap.

A bright red satin - Hand embroidered around the front edge with gold thread in a single line. (Do not iron over this metalic thread without a pressing cloth - it will melt!) It has a single large white ribbon rose in each corner.

We have re-inforced the inner edge and covered the back of the stitches with iron on stiffening.

Since this is satin, I have found that a couple of bobby pins do nicely to keep this on.

One size fits most. Brim edge is 7 inches (about 18 cm)

Suitable for the Medieval or Renaissance re-enactor, dutch caps were worn by most classess from 1400's as night caps to the last 1600's as day wear to meet the standardfs that all respectable women's hair had to be covered.

This is a little fancier than a bed cap, so would do for Italian renaissance or late Tudor. (They are great in the hot weather - you have a headdress that does not make you SWEAT!)

comes from smoke free and pet free home.
