Rustic Walnut Wall Clock

Rustic wall clock made from black walnut with a unique grain pattern. I buy a lot of walnut for a variety of projects that I make in my shop. Most of the lumber has fairly straight grain which is great for most of the projects I make. However, I sometimes run into a piece that has the character that is shown in this clock. It comes from the tree generating a branch out of the main trunk. The grain of the tree has to change direction to accomplish this and the result is, quite frankly, stunning. So I set aside those 'character pieces' for when I have time to make something special out of them. The hours on the clock face are designated with brass pins and the movement is quartz with a continuous second hand (no rhythmic jumping). The clock is trimmed with light maple to frame the artistic face. It can be hung on a wall or set on a stand just as easily. This particular clock measures 14" x 10-3/4".
