The Pink Agate is a one of a Pendant with Monkey charm is a wonderful story to tell.

The walk in the Amazon jungle was amazing. Looking at the curious chimps swinging overhead to the striking macaws with their beautiful colors; hot pink, creamy white, fuchsia and subtle grey feathers. Absolutely breathtaking. I had to find a way to take a little piece of the of the jungle home with me.

Later that day, I took a walk through the market place when I spied something that caught my eye... Moving closer it came into view. There it was; my memory keepsake. A beautiful pink agate reminiscent of the color of the feathers in the macaws, and in the middle as part of the bale was a swinging chimpanzee. I reached for my purse and smiled at the man as I took my special keepsake home.
Pendant measures 7 centimeters long and 3 1/2 centimeters wide.
Chimpanzee charm measures 4 centimeters long.

According to ancient tradition, this precious stone protected against the biting of scorpions or serpents, soothed the mind, drove away contagion, and put a stop to thunder and lightning. It was also said to dispose the wearer to solitude, promote eloquence, and secure the favor of princes. It gave victory over enemies to those who wore it.

Etymology and history

The stone was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates (Greek: Ἀχάτης) sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC.[2] Colorful agates and other chalcedonies were obtained over 3,000 years ago from the Achates River, now called Dirillo, in Sicily.[3]

Ancient use
Agate is one of the most common materials used in the art of hardstone carving, and has been recovered at a number of ancient sites, indicating its widespread use in the ancient world; for example, archaeological recovery at the Knossos site on Crete illustrates its role in Bronze Age Minoan culture.[4]
