These 3 Volt LEDs are the perfect size for miniature projects: dollhouses, dioramas, art projects, railroad scenes, and more.

Listing is for light only. It may be used in conjunction with the battery holder, switch and battery kit (shown in the third photo): http://www.etsy.com/listing/78995084/battery-holder-switch-and-battery-for?ref=v1_other_1

We now offer the LEDs in a variety of sizes (see the second photo):

MEGA (5mm)
These are super bright! One LED is perfect for brightly lighting a small room in a quarter (1:48) scale dollhouse. When a single, central ceiling fixture is desired in a small dollhouse, we recommend using a MEGA with a jewelry finding. The amount of light may be reduced by painting over the LED with a white/off-white craft paint.

CHIP (3.2mm)
The most popular size. One chip will light a small room in a quarter scale dollhouse, but it will be a softer light. These are the size of LEDs that we include in the majoritly of our structure kits. CHIPS also work well for creating burning coals in one inch (1:12) scale fireplaces and stoves.

NANO (1.6mm)
We love these for lighting very small areas in one inch and quarter inch scale dollhouse scenes. They're also great when just a small amount of ambient light is desired (place an LED behind a dollhouse window scene, for example).

PICO (1mm)
These are incredibly tiny! They work well to light small areas in 1/144 scale or in areas that don't have a lot of access space.

WHY USE LEDS?
- LEDs are much more efficient than incandescent bulbs.

- They don't become hot (perfect in places where the lights will be dangerously close to flammable and/or fragile items).

- They last a LONG time - 10 years/10,000 hours. It's very unlikely that you will have to tear apart your project to replace an LED.

- They provide a lot of light. In fact, sometimes they are brighter than is needed for our miniature projects. Thankfully there are ways to cut down the amount of light (discussed in the LED lighting tutorial: http://www.true2scale.com/led-lighting-tutorial/ )

- They are tougher to break than an incandescent bulb because there isn't a filament.

HOW ARE THE LEDS POWERED?
All of our 3 Volt LEDs are operated by a 3 Volt battery and switch unit (shown in the third photo). The battery holder and switch is easy to hide in a diorama. http://www.etsy.com/listing/78995084/battery-holder-switch-and-battery-for?ref=v1_other_1 Do NOT use these 3V LEDs with a standard 12V dollhouse transformer; it will ruin the LEDs.

HOW DO THE LEDS HOOK UP TO A BATTERY?
We've written a step-by-step tutorial: FREE LED wiring tutorial: http://www.true2scale.com/led-lighting-tutorial/

IS THERE A NEED TO SOLDER?
No. There is no need for soldering the wires. A tight connection is created by using the shrink tubes which are included in the battery holder and switch unit.

HOW LONG ARE THE WIRES OF THE LEDS?
The wires are 8 inches (20cm) long. The wires on the battery holder and switch unit are 4 inches (10cm) long. If you require a longer length for your project, wired connectors are available.

HOW MANY LEDS CAN BE HOOKED UP TO ONE BATTERY?
We recommend using 1-10 CHIPS on a 3V battery. 10 CHIPS will run for about 12 hours. 3 CHIPS will run on a single battery for about 40 hours. Keep in mind that when working with dollhouse miniatures, we recommend using these systems to light smaller scale rooms or dollhouses (half 1:24 scale, quarter 1:48 scale, and microscale 1:144). They also work well for lighting small areas in 1" 1:12 scale dollhouses (china cabinets, under cabinet lighting, Christmas trees, fireplaces, glitter houses, etc.) We do not recommend using these to light an entire 1:12 scale dollhouse. To help you decide the quantity and size of the LEDs for your project, please see the tips above.

WHERE DO I FIND THE BATTERIES? MAY REPLACEMENT BATTERIES BE PURCHASED?
A battery is included with the battery holder and switch unit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/78995084/battery-holder-switch-and-battery-for?ref=related-0
The replaceable battery is a common size which is available from drug/convenience stores.
