The "Medieval Hammer" is the ultimate example of a tool modified to become a weapon. The Typical blacksmith's hammer is two to three pounds with a sixteen inch handle and smooth faces. The Medieval War Hammer has a one pound head with a twenty four inch handle. The faces are modified to increase surface area, improve grip and increase penetration. The split face widens the head and gives the face grip on a helm or shield instead of just sliding off. The pein is pointed to increase penetration in case your opponent is stubborn and refuses to die, you can spin the hammer and poke him in the head to finish the job. The straps keep the head securely on the handle in case you get the head caught in somebody's helm or shield and you are trying to pull it free. The handle is long to improve reach. The War Hammer is completely hand made. Check out the pictures. I forge the head and punch the eye with my favorite 2.5 lb hammer (which I made). The handles are white oak that I cut and milled myself. I use a draw shave and a spoke shave to finish the handle while sitting at my shave horse. The War Hammer is not perfect machine made, instead, they are made one at a time, by hand, by hammer, authentic. The finish is linseed oil. Delivered faster than I thought, initially the look of it was a bit different from pictures on here, but man, this thing is powerful! Tested on some unlucky melons, squashes, coconuts, and yeah,this thing can smash. I actually love the rougher look of it, looks like its been through battle, all the nicks and little details just gives it that personal touch you can't really get from manufacturers.

I came across a photo of this looking at medeival war hammers one night (my favorite) and I immediately fell in love w the looks of this .When I read reviews that this was a hand forged, working piece and not a cheap reproduction, I had to have one. Compared to a few real ones on display in museums, it looks pretty accurate to one you would have found on battlefields all cross Europe mid century. All of the reviews hold true. It arrived faster than thought, great customer service, and this thing is the Real deal. The head is Very secure w/ zero movement. I mounted mine on some custom brackets, I also got a sweet anvil key chain from him that I hung w a small magnet. Very happy w/ this purchase. Thanks Joel , you're a true Artist.
