Fil Au Chinois Lin Câblé is a waxed cable linen thread for leatherwork. It is widely considered to be one of the best linen threads on the market and is used by many luxury fashion houses such as Hermès, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Of course, it can be used by any leatherworkers from hobbyists and beginners right up to makers of high end goods.

It is a fine thread and is suited to smaller goods such as wallets, cases, watch straps, small bags and other accessories. If you are looking for a more rugged thread in larger sizes please see my listing for tiger thread/ritza 25 at https://etsy.me/39t4AP8

Here you can buy the thread in smaller lengths from me - this is helpful for you in case you only need a small amount for your project, would like to try out a particular colour or can't normally buy it in your own country. This is all genuine thread which I import from France and package for you in England.

✾ Sizes:

Lin Câblé comes in a variety of sizes which are coded by number as below. I have a large selection of colours available in 432 and 532 which I feel are the most versatile sizes. I also have black and ecru available in 632 and 832 should you wish to try those so you can see the difference.

Please note that the 532 looks smaller and finer than 0.6mm tiger thread due to the rounded profile even though it is nominally the same size (see comparison photos).

✤ 332 (0.77mm) - not available (please see tiger thread)
✤ 432 (0.63mm) - 33 colours available
✤ 532 (0.57mm) - 36 colours available
✤ 632 (0.51mm) - black/ecru only
✤ 832 (0.43mm) - black/ecru only

✾ Colours:

✤ I stock 36 colours out of the 44 currently available from Sajou. The ones which I chose not to stock are mainly close duplicates (for example there are 4 shades of yellow and 3 shades of pink)
✤ I have taken my own photos in a controlled environment for the best comparison and accuracy
✤ The main contact sheet photo should be used to most accurately compare colours. The photo of the spools on my wooden cabinet was taken in sunlight and is to show groups of colours which I have arranged myself by shade and hue.
✤ The 901 marron foncé (dark brown) is not shown in the photos, this is very slightly darker than the 298 lichen

✾ Please note:

► you will receive ~5m of thread per purchase (the main photo shows full spools this is not the amount you receive)
► I do not sell full spools
► your thread will arrive wrapped onto a bobbin as shown in the example photo
► this thread is for hand sewing leather, it's not suitable for sewing machines
► the colours may look different on your computer screen to in reality and will also look different in different light
► colours may also vary between batches/sizes
► all orders are individually prepared so will usually ship within a few days. As they are cut to order they count as customised items and can not be returned
► on lower value items (under around £20) a shipping upgrade may be offered at the checkout which adds tracking/insurance to your order.
