Now this item takes you on a short trip to the past when these beautiful yet functional brooches were popular. In more recent time perfume container jewelry became larger, less finely designed and could contain liquid and in some cases solid perfume. In the 1930s and 40s perfume bottle jewelry was generally detailed in design, delicate and could pass as a beautiful piece of jewelry on its own.

The brooch starts with a gold tone bar piece that measures 1 1/4 inches across. It has small raised dots across the front. From the center of the bar hangs two small chains that hold the black glass round bottle by attaching to the gold tone open work that surrounds the glass globe.
The glass bottle measures a little over 3/4" in diameter. The length with cap is about 1 1/4".

The open work design has 6 sections all connected at the bottom of the bottle. Each section is enhanced with a small white enamel application with a small red dot in the center. This enamel work is worn in some of the sections. The gold tone brass cap for the bottle screws on and off and has the tiny glass dauber intact. The bottle cap has a turquoise glass cab set into the top.

I only lightly cleaned this brooch. I left the dauber with the leftover scent still in it. It's kind of fun to take in the scent and imagine the times way back when, what you'd be wearing and where you'd be going. There is some tarnish and wear to the gold tone finish around where the top would be opened and closed.

The pin closure on the back of the bar looks like a half safely pin closure. The pin is not loose or cracked but does not really have much tension to it. When I put it on though the clothing puts enough tension behind the pin to have it stay closed securely.
