This chaplet begins with a beautifully detailed Italian crucifix, followed by three sets of 3 (9 total) 8mm natural blue serpentine beads and ends with an Italian medal of St. Augustine/St. Monica. The blue serpentine is simply gorgeous with each tiny orb resembling a miniature water planet. Each bead is wrap-looped by hand with nickel silver wrapping wire for maximum strength and durability. The smaller beads and tube spacers are made of lead-free Tibetan silver. This rosary will last a lifetime of normal use and would make a beautiful gift of faith for anytime of the year! I'll include a St. Augustine prayer card and a drawstring organza pouch with your purchase.

•28 August

The son of St. Monica and a pagan father. In spite of being raised to be a Christian by his mother, he lost his faith as a young teen and led a secular lifestyle. He fathered a son by a woman with whom he lived for 15 years. One of his most famous quotes came from this period of his life: "God, give me chastity and continence...but just not now."

He was finally converted by his mother and St. Ambrose, who baptized him. After his mother passed away, he sold his property and gave all his money to the poor. Augustine became a monk, a priest, then Bishop of Hippo in 396. He founded a monestary and many religious communities in Africa. He also became a Doctor of the Church.
